Lake Silbersee history and origin:
Lake Silbersee is a small artificial lake near the river Drau is located at the Lower Saxiony in Germany at latitude (46.6086° N, 13.9063° E)
The small Lake is an artificial lake that was supposed to be “a German Stadium”.
Architect Albert Speer designed the stadium, the work on the stadium was never completed due to World War II broke out.
The project was dropped after the war, and dug area was filled with water.
The source of the lake’s water is unknown, although it is believed that water source maybe the surrounding underground water.
The Lake was dug in an aquifer characteristic with its acidic pH and weakly buffered water. The lake was meromictic with a warm surface water in summer and no obvious stratification.
The small artificial lake was considered to
be eutrophic lake since year 2007 where the local reported the algae bloom in
the lake.
