What power the surface current?

              • Different temperatures cause different air pressures.
• The warmer the air the higher the pressure.
• Colder areas have low pressure.
• The difference in the pressure causes the wind to form.
• The air will move from high pressure and high temperature to lower pressure and low temperature.
• The air near the equator is hotter than the air near the poles. The air moves from the equator towards the poles creating a wind that pushes the surface of water creating the surface currents.
• So the sun is the main source that powers the surface currents.
